Too Soon?

We just did our Christmas set at work this week. I’m sure next year we’ll have it up in time for the 4th of July.

The Archive link above and Rss feed link are not yet working but I think I’ve got the rest of the site working. Thanks for your patience during my reboot. I’ll be continuing to update the site throughout the week but this’ll do in the mean time.

Not exactly unexpected. I was in Younkers last week and they had the Holiday section up and were already stocking it.

The RSS is working for me.

I can remember being in Conn. in the middle of October and the Mall was totally decorated PLUS the man was already there!!

Frank thanks for the feedback. I wasn’t getting any notification on my end, so I’ll stop messing with it now if it’s working.

Barnes & Nobel started that &^%$ real early too. I blocked it all out except for “Linus & Lucy” from the Charlie Brown Xmas soundtrack. Then I’d practically skip.

    “The horror. The horror.”

One knows that the holidays are upon us when the overhead music turns to an onslaught of christmas music.

Once upon a time, such tunes were reserved for Christmas Eve/Day. Oh, what a delight they were to hear upon those magic couple of days.

Now, thanks to retail, we get to have them four…five months at a time! This is no longer a delight, but madness. Too much of a good thing, realized.

At least in my retail, the XM station eased in the tunes. At first, it was 1 part X-mas to 20 parts muzak. (SP?) Come November, the formula was more like 4 parts to 10 parts. Then, it would go nearly all X-mas several weeks before the big day. My other retailer has since cut out all overhead music, altogether. (Leaving only the crying children and angry parent chatter. ALL. DAY. LONG. O_o (White noise! Take me away!!!))

On a side note: Get this. The company that owns both Sears AND K-Mart felt that such a crisis was in effect, they started up the Christmas Aisles…IN JULY! Now, that is desperation.
