It’s funny how corporate retail always expects you to show up no matter how bad the weather is. And do you know why that is? Because some crazy ass customer will always show up and shop. This past winter, during the crazy snow storms we were having, my boss and I were the only two employees to come to work. I walked. No other employee dared make the attempt. But five customers came banging on the door looking to go shopping. Seriously, what could possibly be that important to risk your life to come out and buy.
A disposable camera.
Back when I was the manager of The Camera Shop at King of Prussia, the mall had technically had a delayed opening that i was unaware of, so I opened up shop while the rest of the mall (except for a lone CPK waitress and two security guards) was locked up and shut down. I was told the mall would technically open in three hours, so I kept the gate up and decided to get some work around the store done. Five minutes after I started running the density checks on the processor a customer walked in covered in snow and bought a disposable camera. Two more people came in for the same thing and another to get one hour photo done from their disposable. It was pictures of the snow.
And it’s not like the KOP mall is a neighborhood store or anything, it’s all highways to get there, unless they stumbled over drunk from being at kildares all night.
Well, one of them did have an Irish accent, so the Kildare’s theory may not be that far fetched.
